  • “Phototropic” explores our primal instinct to connect with nature, exploring how plants reach for light. The series metaphorically reflects submersion, transformation, and emergence—where water dissolves boundaries, and light guides self-discovery.

Using organic materials to obscure details in camera , the images drift between clarity and erasure, evoking a dreamlike state. This process resists specificity, inviting viewers to project their own emotions. My process is somewhat informed and inspires by my own contemplations on experiences with vision loss.

Absence becomes transformation—what is lost reveals something new.

Existing beyond time or place, Phototropic lingers in the subconscious, where memories blur and sensations override logic. Like light filtering through water or leaves shifting in the wind, the images suggest a fleeting moment between becoming and dissolving.

More than visuals, these works are felt experiences—moments of drifting in and out of dreams, dissolving and resurfacing. Just as a plant bends toward the sun, Phototropic suggests we, are always reaching—toward transformation and the unknown.
